'His Head Lies Heavy'
‘His Head Lies Heavy’ (release date 3rd March 2023) is Ben & Dom's debut album release. This collection of 11 songs showcases their lyrical, melodic and thoughtful approach to a cappella songwriting. The lyrics touch on themes of commonality and connection, exploring our relationship with nature, our lineage, love for each other and ourselves, and various forms of male expression. Building on the experience of their previous release 'Shoulder', this album features expansive vocal layers, a variety of percussion, and a 20 strong male voice choir (Chaps Choir), elevating their sound and bringing a broader dynamic range. From the driving drum and clatter of cutlery in ‘Savage’ to the lulling, meditative chimes which close ‘Leaf’, Ben & Dom have incorporated lots of new colour into this record.
CreditsAll songs written by Ben & Dom with the exception of Children of Darkness (Mimi & Richard Fariña) and The Quiet Joys of Brotherhood (lyrics by Richard Fariña). The opening text of Through The Years is taken from the broadside ballad ‘If Men Would Love Each Other’.

‘Shoulder’ (release date 1st April 2022) is the debut release from south London based vocal duo ‘Ben and Dom’. This collection of 6 original songs has grown out of their close friendship, a shared love of harmony singing and a common desire to explore the themes of male identity and expression through their songwriting. Ben takes the high notes, and Dom the low notes, as the intricate blend of their voices weave around the harmonies. Their lyrics touch on friendship, mental struggle, the idea of male beauty, and aim to challenge the stereotypes of what it means for two men to sing together in this modern day.
