'Constellation Choir' Singing Weekend - Dorchester 16-18th April 2027
£75.00 - £120.00
This weekend will be different to singing weekends we’ve run before. Places are limited to 60 to achieve an even spread of singers across the voice parts and we will send out scores and audio tracks in advance so that we can get through more music and slightly more challenging arrangements. We will also work towards an informal concert on the Sunday afternoon.
This weekend is best suited to more confident singers. You don’t need to be able to read music, but you will need some experience of harmony singing and holding a part. We will expect a little bit of preparation so that we can move efficiently through the songs and spend time on shaping the sound and getting the most from the music.
We’re excited to offer something new, and a little bit different to our other weekends. Come and be part of our first ever Constellation Choir!
Session times:
Friday 16th - 19.30-21.30
Saturday 17th - 10.00-16.00 & 19.30-21.30
Sunday 18th - 10.30-12.30 & 13.30-15:30
The booking price does not include food & accommodation.
Ben & Dom’s 'Constellation Choir' Weekend
We are excited to announce a new Ben & Dom singing weekend for 2027! We’ll be in the historic town of Dorchester (birth place of Thomas Hardy) from the 16th to 18th April 2027 at Dorchester Arts Centre.
This weekend will be a little bit different to singing weekends we’ve run before. Places are limited to 60 so that we can have an even spread of singers across the voice parts and build a balanced choir. We will send out scores and audio tracks in advance so that we can get through more music and some slightly more challenging arrangements. We will also work towards an informal concert on the Sunday afternoon.
This weekend is best suited to more confident singers. You don’t need to be able to read music, but you will need some experience of harmony singing and holding a part. We will also expect some preparation ahead of the weekend so that we can move efficiently through the songs and spend time on shaping the sound and getting the most from the music.
On Friday evening & Saturday we’ll be in the Town Hall - a light and bright room - upstairs at the Arts Centre.. It is a lovely space to sing in with full length windows and a nice acoustic. On Sunday we’ll head downstairs into the Corn Exchange which is a theatre and performance space. The weekend will build towards a short and informal concert on Sunday afternoon. We will share our voices with an invited audience, including family, friends and local choirs to conclude a wonderful weekend of making music.
We’re excited to offer something new, and a little bit different to our other weekends. Come and be part of our first ever Scratch Choir in a weekend!

What will we be singing?
We will be teaching a wide range of songs and arrangements in glorious four part harmony. There will be new songs alongside old songs, folk songs and pop songs. We like to present music with heart and meaning from a wide range of sources and styles, including some of our own compositions.
Here are some examples of previous work to give you a flavour of the kind of thing to expect:
