(be prepared to meet from 14.45 by the side of the stage by the hot dog stand)

The Cambridge Festival Choir is open to absoutely everyone, no matter your singing experience. We'll start with some gentle warm-ups and learn a few simple songs in harmony. Come to as many sessions as you can make to prepare for our Sunday evening sharing performance. If you're able to be there for all 3 sessions, even better.

  • The Lark In The Morning

Trad. English Folk song arranged by Anna Tabbush (ROUD 151)

Lay still my fond shepherd and don't you rise yet

It's a fine dewy morning and besides, my love, it is wet

Oh no, my bright Floro, it is no such thing

It's a bright sun a-shining and the lark is on the wing

Oh the lark in the morning she rises from her nest

And she mounts in the air with the dew about her breast

And like the pretty ploughboy she'll whistle and sing

And at night she’ll return to her own nest again

When the ploughboy has done all he's got for to do

He trips to the meadows where the grass is all cut down

The nightingale she whistles upon the hawthorn spray

And the moon is a-shining upon the new-mown hay

Oh the lark in the morning she rises from her nest

And she mounts in the air with the dew about her breast

And like the pretty ploughboy she'll whistle and sing

And at night she’ll return to her own nest again

    Never One Thing

    by May Erlewine

    oo, oo, oo, oo x2

I’m the underbelly, I am the claw

Never one thing, no not one thing at all

    I’m a street fighter, I’m a prayer for peace

    I’m a holy roller, I’m a honey bee

I am the truth, I am the lie,

I am the ground, I am the sky,

I am the silence, I am the call

Never one thing, no not one thing at all

I’m the underbelly, I am the claw

Never one thing, no not one thing at all

    I’m a street fighter, I’m a prayer for peace

    I’m a holy roller, I’m a honey bee

I am hope, I am defeat,

I am broken, I am complete

I am the grace, I am the fall

Never one thing, no not one thing at all

I’m the underbelly, I am the claw

Never one thing, no not one thing at all

    I’m a street fighter, I’m a prayer for peace

    I’m a holy roller, I’m a honey bee

    oo, oo, oo, oo

I am a mother, I am the child

I am the meek, I am the wild

I am the witch, I am the saint

I am alive, never one thing

I'm the underbelly, I am the claw etc...

    x2

    oo, oo, oo, oo etc...

    Au Revoir

    by Anna Tabbush

    This is not goodbye

    This is au revoir

    Though we part our ways

    Take me in your heart

    You’re not alone

    When we’re miles apart

    This is not goodbye

    This is au revoir
